IOT Grant Opportunity – Sustainable tourism pathway
This initiative is part of the Indian Ocean Territory (IOT) Marine Parks Grant by Parks Australia jointly awarded to Christmas Island Tourism Association, The University of Queensland and Ecotourism Australia to develop sustainable and ecotourism in the IOT region.

Designed for any tourism or visitor economy business (cafe, restaurant, tour, accommodation, retail) in the Indian Ocean territory. Includes case studies, local initiatives to engage with and a checklist for your own business.

Benchmark yourself against global standard sustainability, identify the gaps to work on and celebrate the wins and achievements you have already made.

As an IOT located business you are eligible for a complimentary Strive 4 Sustainability scorecard, whilst places are still available, register using the button below.
Eligibility
- The applicant operates their businesses in the IOT region – Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Island.
- Applicants must operate an accommodation, attraction, brewery, distillery or winery, event, restaurant, tour, or visitor information centre. (Other businesses will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
- The applicant will need to express how participating in the program will benefit their business.
- Maximum one application per business, applications for multiple locations for the same business will not be accepted.
Places are limited and will be assessed on a first come, first served basis and best fit to eligibility criteria. Submissions with incorrect or incomplete details will not be considered.
