Data Strategy Lead | Travalyst
Aromica Bhattacharya is the Data Strategy Lead at Travalyst, the independent not-for-profit coalition founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, working to change the way the world travels – for good. With 15 years of experience at the intersection of language, culture, and tourism, she has spent the last decade exploring how destinations are promoted, how narratives shape communities and identity, and how sustainability is framed in the travel and tourism industry.

Christina Leala-Gale
Sustainable Tourism Manager | Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO)
Christina Leala-Gale is the Sustainable Tourism Manager at the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), a role she has held since 2017. In this position, she spearheads SPTO’s efforts to empower its Pacific Island Member Countries in destination stewardship and management. Christina is instrumental in driving the implementation of the Pacific Sustainable Tourism Policy Framework to support regional tourism collaboration for achieving national development goals as well as the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and key regional and national priorities.

Timothy Teo
Chief Executive Officer | Borneo Eco Tours
Timothy Teo leads Borneo Eco Tours and its sister lodges Sukau Rainforest Lodge and Utan Rainforest Lodge in Borneo. A former civil engineer with an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, he has spent over 15 years advancing sustainable wildlife tourism and pioneering award-winning rainforest lodge experiences in Malaysia.

Jana Apih
Executive Director | Green Destinations Foundation
Jana Apih began her career at the Slovenian Tourist Board and later co-founded the GoodPlace Institute, helping develop and implement Slovenia’s Green Scheme for sustainable tourism. She has advised destinations internationally, co-authored Slovenia’s tourism strategy and in 2024 became Executive Director of the Green Destinations Foundation.

Executive General Manager | Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort
Amy Gash, Executive General Manager of Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, grew up on the Great Barrier Reef and has built her career around sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship. With a tourism degree and extensive hands-on experience across island operations, she is passionate about creating meaningful visitor experiences while protecting the natural environment. Amy is a strong advocate for industry leadership, storytelling and reef conservation, using her platform to inspire future generations and promote sustainable tourism practices across Australia.
Andrew Picone
National Advocacy Coordinator| The Pew Charitable Trusts
Andrew Picone is an experienced conservation leader with more than 20 years in natural and cultural heritage management, having led major environmental initiatives across Australia that have driven policy reform, secured funding, and strengthened protections for nature. Through his work with leading NGOs, including The Pew Charitable Trusts and Protect Beautiful Queensland, he has contributed to landmark conservation outcomes, including new protected areas, the return of Country to First Nations peoples, and stronger protections for Queensland’s Channel Country and Cape York Peninsula.

Curtis McGrath OAM
Australian Paralympic Team Co-Captain | Paralympics Australia
Curtis McGrath is a Paralympic gold medallist, Australian Paralympic Team co-captain and Board Director of Paralympics Australia. After a life-changing injury during his service as an Australian Army combat engineer in Afghanistan, Curtis discovered Para-canoe and went on to become one of Australia’s most successful Paralympians, with multiple world titles and three consecutive Paralympic gold medals. Beyond sport, Curtis is a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion, with a strong focus on how tourism and destination design can better welcome people of all abilities.

Dana Ronan is Founder of Nourish Group Consulting and a strategic advisor specialising in tourism, social impact and sustainability. With more than 25 years of experience across destination marketing, ecotourism operations, tourism boards and stakeholder engagement, she combines expertise in marketing strategy, digital marketing, tourism and business development to help organisations better measure, communicate and maximise tourism’s broader value to communities, culture and place.

Daniel Walsh
Co-Founder | Reforest
Daniel Walsh is the co-founder of Reforest, a restoration-focused technology platform that helps destinations, travel businesses and visitors contribute to high-quality ecosystem restoration. A former management consultant turned social entrepreneur, Daniel founded Reforest after his own travels left him with a growing conviction that giving back to the places we visit shouldn’t feel like an obligation; it should feel meaningful. Today, Reforest works with leading destinations, travel companies and event organisers, funds over 50+ projects around the world and has planted over 8 million trees.

Darren McClenaghan
Resort Manager | RACV Noosa Resort
Darren McClenaghan has led RACV Noosa Resort as Resort Manager for over 15 years, steering the award-winning five-star property to consistent recognition – including five-time winners at the Queensland Tourism Awards, triple winners at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards and Hall of Fame inductee, TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Hotels in Australia, and Travellers’ Choice Best Accommodation in Queensland. Beyond the resort, Darren has contributed to the region’s broader visitor economy through four years on the Tourism Noosa Board.

David Young
Director of Sustainability | Accor Group
David Young is the Director of Sustainability at Accor, where he leads sustainability strategy across 400+ hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. A globally experienced ESG and commercial sustainability executive, David has held senior roles at Qantas, Air New Zealand and the Oneworld Alliance, and serves on boards including YHA Australia and the IATA Sustainability Council. David brings deep expertise in embedding ESG at scale, building commercial partnerships and driving programs that deliver environmental, social and business impact across aviation and hospitality sectors.

Diana Mulholland
Tourism Experience and Sector Development Leader | Tourism and Events Queensland
Diana Mulholland is Tourism Experience and Sector Development Leader at Tourism and Events Queensland, leading the refresh of Queensland’s nature-based tourism strategy and guiding the Queensland Guiding Community of Practice. A former ecotourism guide, she has held diverse roles at TEQ since 2005, focusing on visitor experiences, environmental stewardship, and sustainable tourism development.

Elissa Keenan
Chief Executive Officer | Ecotourism Australia
Elissa has extensive executive experience across tourism, aviation, government and peak bodies, including roles with Queensland Airports Limited, Airservices Australia, Virgin Australia, the REIQ and Surf Life Saving. She is a Board Director of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and a former Director of Reef Check Australia, supporting marine conservation through citizen science. Elissa has contributed widely to the industry as a judge for multiple tourism awards and is a strong advocate for women in leadership, with extensive governance experience and advanced qualifications in business and company directorship.

Emma-Louise Padillo
Area Manager | Booking.com
Emma is a passionate and driven tourism professional with over 10 years of experience in international account management across the tourism industry in Oceania. Known for her strong relationship-building skills, in her current role as Area Manager, Emma is responsible for leading teams across Australia and driving strategic partnerships with Booking.com’s accommodation partners. Emma is also passionate about the future of sustainable tourism and supporting partners to meet the evolving expectations of today’s travellers.

Fiona Merida
Director of Strategic Engagement and Education | Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority
Fiona has over 20 years of experience in Great Barrier Reef protection, government policy, science, industry stewardship, environmental education and engagement. Day-to-day Fiona leads an incredible team of professionals that work with communities, local government and industry on targeted programs designed to increase environmental awareness and stewardship. This includes the Local Marine Advisory Committees, Tourism Reef Advisory Committee, High Standard Tourism Operators, Master Reef Guides, Reef Guardian Schools, Reef Guardian Councils and Eye on the Reef programs.

Fraser Nai
Co-Founder| Strait Experience
Fraser hails from Masig Island in the Kulkalgal Nations of people in the Central Torres Strait Islands. Fraser’s is an outlier whose mantra for life is Courageous, Visionary, Leadership. Fraser’s only purpose in life is to solve for humanity. Before co-founding “Strait Experience” the only DMC in the Torres Strait, Fraser previously served on the following sectors: a local government councillor on Torres Strait Island Regional Council, a board member on Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service, a Advisory council member to both Prime Minister’s Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison, board member on Community Enterprise Queensland and current board member of Queensland First Nation Tourism Council.

Garrett Tyler-Parker
Director of Analysis & Insights | Tourism Research Australia
Garrett Tyler-Parker is Director of Analysis & Insights at Tourism Research Australia, where he turns complex data into practical insights for the tourism sector. With 15+ years’ experience in market research and strategy across Australia and Thailand, Garrett has held senior roles in the private sector, local and federal government.

Heidi Quatro
Team Leader | Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Heidi Quatro is a proud Birpai woman from the Mid North Coast of NSW. She is dedicated to cultural engagement and connection, embedding authentic First Nations knowledge across education, ranger programs, and community spaces. As Team Lead of the First Nations Ranger Program, she works alongside Elders, community, and her team to protect, preserve, and share cultural knowledge, supporting sustainable land management practices. Heidi is passionate about building strong relationships and ensuring culture is shared with integrity for future generations at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Jessica Keen
National Industry Development & Capability Manager| Australian Tourism Export Council
Jessica Keen has worked in the tourism industry for nearly 30 years. Jessica’s career includes roles in private and public sector tourism organisations, both within Australia and overseas including Tourism Australia. Jessica specialised in food and wine tourism and worked for Restaurant & Catering Australia for 12 years where she managed consumer marketing partnerships; the Savour Australia brand; and the development of the wine list awards. In addition, Jessica is a former Board Member for Tourism Training Australia. Most recently Jessica is ATEC’s National Industry Development & Capability Manager developing and implementing several training programs nationally.

Katharine Hopper
Head of Sustainability | EVT
Katharine is Head of Sustainability at EVT, leading global sustainability strategy across its cinema, hotel and travel operations to reduce environmental impact and embed more sustainable practice. With extensive experience across not-for-profit and private sectors including resources, banking and hospitality, she has built sustainability functions from the ground up and delivered Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi)-aligned emissions reduction goals. Katharine has also developed award-winning social impact initiatives, including Reconciliation Action Plans.

Kristy Malapa
General Manager | Untamed Escapes
Kristy Malapa is General Manager of Untamed Escapes, an Australian tour operator delivering nature, wildlife and cultural experiences across South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. With two decades in tourism, including Tourism Australia, she champions regenerative tourism that protects ecosystems, supports communities and strengthens Indigenous partnerships. Kristy is passionate about using tourism as a force for good and believes the future of travel lies in experiences that give back more than they take.

Laura Haley
Environment Business Partner | NRMA Parks and Resorts
Laura has 25 years’ experience in environmental management, shaped by major infrastructure projects across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Canada, and the UK. Now with NRMA Parks and Resorts, she leads sustainability initiatives across a diverse national asset portfolio and played a key role in the development and operation of the award‑winning Turtle Sands Resort. She is passionate about protecting the environment, minimising impacts, and promoting efficient resource use.

Lauren Caverley
Senior Communications and Sustainability Manager | Tourism Australia
Lauren Caverley leads sustainability initiatives at Tourism Australia. Her work focuses on supporting the sustainable growth of Australia’s tourism industry, helping businesses respond to changing traveller expectations and encouraging more sustainable practices across the sector, including through Tourism Australia’s Green is Our Gold initiative.

Louise Freckelton
Custodian/Host | Highfield Farm & Kestrel Nest EcoHut
Louise and her partner David are environmentalists and food lovers turned farmers, blending award-winning lamb production with habitat protection and eco-agritourism in the Riverina Highlands of New South Wales. Their farm prioritises biodiversity and ecosystem health, while their acclaimed Kestrel Nest EcoHut reinvests 20% of guest fees into conservation and environmental restoration.

Michael Thurston
General Manager | Destination North Coast
With 27+ years in tourism, Michael Thurston is General Manager of Destination North Coast. His experience spans product, marketing, and destination management across Australia and overseas, including roles with Destination Gold Coast, STA Travel, Thomas Cook UK, and Insider Journeys, alongside business ownership in accommodation and holiday rentals.

Nadine Schramm
Head of Sustainability, Assurance & Business Operations | Ecotourism Australia
Nadine provides strategic and operational leadership across Ecotourism Australia’s certification programs, standards, compliance, and organisational operations. She ensures the integrity and growth of certification frameworks, aligning them with international best practice, evolving global standards, and ESG principles. With expertise in sustainable and regenerative tourism, Nadine is committed to strengthening Australia’s position as a leading sustainable tourism destination. She also contributes to global industry advancement through her involvement in international sustainable tourism and certification panels and committees.

Chief Regenerative Officer | WWF Australia
Nicole is Chief Regenerative Officer at WWF‑Australia, leading the organisation’s strategy to Regenerate Nature by 2030. A proud Wiradjuri woman with over 20 years’ leadership experience, she champions First Nations knowledge, community perspectives, innovation, and sustainability to drive positive environmental and social change across Australia and the Pacific.

Paul McGrath
Chief Executive Officer | YHA Australia
Paul was appointed CEO of YHA Australia in 2020, leading a comprehensive transformation during the pandemic. He modernised operations, rebranded the organisation, upgraded infrastructure, expanded food and beverage offerings and launched the Travel to Learn Foundation. With deep marketing expertise and a reputation for strategic leadership developed across several roles, Paul has operated at a senior leadership level for some of Australia’s leading travel companies, gaining a thorough understanding of the airline, hotel, travel and tourism sectors.

Penny Spoelder is an internationally recognised sustainable tourism and climate resilience expert with over 20 years’ experience across Australia and the Pacific. She advises global organisations and governments, translating frameworks into practical, locally led solutions, and leads Global Instinct Consulting while serving as Senior Associate at TRC Tourism.

Phil Wishart
General Manager Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement | Paralympics Australia
Phil commenced at Paralympics Australia in 2024, having worked across the sport, major events and tourism sectors in local and state government over the past 20 years. As the peak body for Para sport and the National Paralympic Committee responsible for the Australian Paralympic Team, Phil is heavily engaged in planning for Brisbane 2032. He works with key stakeholders to embed Universal Design principles in all elements of Games planning and advocates for Para sport, inclusion and accessibility legacy outcomes.

Robert Taylor
Chief Executive Officer | Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council
Robert, a Nhanda Yamaji man, brings over 38 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. Since becoming CEO of the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) in 2015, he has led the successful delivery of the Aboriginal Tourism Development Program, supporting the growth of 39 new Aboriginal businesses across Western Australia. A strong advocate for the sector, Robert has worked closely with government to help secure $40 million in investment for Aboriginal tourism nationwide. He has also served on the National Indigenous Tourism Advisory Group to the NIAA, where he continues to champion meaningful change across the country.

Sonia Beckwith
Co-Founder | Live Ningaloo
Sonia is a mountain mover with a colourful background in non-profit, private, and corporate sectors in the States. After an adventure in Australia, she co-founded an ecotourism company, Live Ningaloo, in Exmouth, WA. Sonia interested in bringing people to the table who would normally not dine together and believes in strengthening communication between like minds and opposing views, then finding a way to work together to achieve something tangible.

Soraya Rankine
Board Member | South Australian Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (SAATOC)
Soraya Rankine is a proud Ngarrindjeri and Narungga woman, from South Australia. Her career has largely focused on empowering and supporting Aboriginal people and communities, including her time at the South Australian Tourism Commission as Manager Aboriginal and Experience Development. She is a current board member of the South Australian Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (SAATOC) and a member of Austrade’s National First Nations Visitor Economy Partnership. She brings her diverse knowledge and experience to the tourism industry to support impactful and positive change.

Simone, Founder of Partner2GROW and visitor economy lead at Blue Mountains City Council, is the catalyst for what is emerging as an Australian-first destination stewardship model – proving that protecting a place and growing its value are the same strategy done well. Tai Lennon
Managing Director | Climate Zero
Tai Lennon is a sustainability and tourism leader with over a decade of executive experience. Previously with the Morris Group, Tai has led Ecotourism and Climate Action Certifications across multiple premium tourism properties and developed the group’s first sustainability strategy and Modern Slavery Statement. Tai now works with tourism and hospitality operators to transform sustainability data into operational and commercial advantage.

Victoria is a highly respected journalist, presenter, broadcaster, podcast host, facilitator, and board director, bringing over 35 years of experience across every facet of the media industry. She first rose to media fame as a sports journalist and presenter with Channel 7 before expanding into breakfast and talkback radio.
As a long-standing presenter on the Seven Network’s popular travel and lifestyle show Weekender, Victoria has spent years showcasing destinations across Queensland and beyond, inspiring audiences to explore the state’s natural wonders, iconic attractions and hidden gems.
Victoria previously hosted the Global Sustainable Tourism Summit back in 2024, bringing energy, insight and passion to the event – and we can’t wait to see her in action again in 2026!
