Ecotourism Australia’s new three-year Corporate Strategy is now released, which builds on our 30-year legacy as leaders in eco and sustainable tourism. The strategy provides clear direction on our future growth through our six pillars of strategic focus.
As the need for ecotourism and sustainable tourism increases, Ecotourism Australia has an opportunity to champion the adoption of global best practice sustainability standards that meet growing consumer demand for sustainable operations.
“The release of the 2022–2025 Corporate Strategy for Ecotourism Australia is a key deliverable to support the vision of the Board, since joining as Chief Executive earlier this year,” said CEO, Elissa Keenan. “It is important that we build on the amazing work that Ecotourism Australia has achieved since we began in 1991 and accelerate the implementation of sustainability initiatives within our industry.”
The strategy supports the Federal Government’s THRIVE 2030 targets, which aim to return visitor expenditure to $166 billion by 2024, pre-COVID spending levels, and to further increase spending to $230 billion by 2030. While we share the necessity for sustainability in tourism with the broader industry, supporting THRIVE 2030 will directly benefit the Ecotourism Australia community as we continue to recognise and celebrate the contribution of our certified operators and destinations in upholding the highest standards for ecotourism in Australia.
“Through our range of programs, positive strategic partnerships and advocacy work, our future focus will remain on enhancing the Ecotourism Australia brand and value of our certification as a catalyst for positive change,” said Ms Keenan.
“I look forward to leading Ecotourism Australia through this next period and am excited to work with our stakeholders to drive quality sustainable tourism outcomes as we implement our new strategy.”
